You might first think about what you want from school. 1. If you only want to get medical bill covered, I don't think you need to go to lawyer. You just need to talk to school. Usually school's insurance company would LOVE to pay it if you told them you ONLY want medical expense.

2. If you are afraid that the bone fracture might influnce your kid's future (problems related to walk...etc.). You might want to consult a lawyer, usually the first talk is free. But keep in mind, the lawyer will ask for 40% of settlement excluding of medical anaylsis expense. You might not get too much finally. Another thing you need to consider is how much your medical expense is, if is is less than $5000, most of lawyer wont even take the such a small case.
