Attemp to elude police vehicle的后果是什么？

moving vialation后不久发现警察车跟在后面，但奇怪的事，他没做任何表示。我甚至在
一个stop sign那里听了十几秒钟，也没听到警龄。我想没事，就继续慢慢往前开。大概
一mile之后，听到警铃项，我想你刚才那么久为何都没表示，于是愣了一下，大概十秒钟
，回头看了一下，警察在车里冲我招手，于是我马上路边停下。他说我attemp to elude
him, so charged me. 还给了我一张important notice,说如果我guity,could be put in
jail. 凭良心说，整个过程我压根没有这个念头，没有任何aggresive的举动。
有类似经验的网友，能否告知，这可能会有什么后果？不想受太大惊吓了
