What can I do now(urgent)

I just got job offer this afternoon. I called one of the lawyers in Boston, he said depends on my degree, the basic salary is not enough to meet H1 requirement. But he said maybe I can talk to my employer and ask them to change my position to part time, I don't know how to talk to my employer, also. My OPT will expired next January,so what can I do now, anyone can give me some suggestions?
