Besides to be the nest for family, house is also a big investment. If your friends have some business companies or plan to buy second house for renting, it is very wise to put the residential house under one spouse name, and the businesses under another person's name. If bad things happens, they may lose the renting house, but they still can keep the residential house.

My hu*****and and I recenlty considered to remove my name from the house title, and use my name to buy the second house.
