Tax question--qualified child

I noticed in 2005 1040 instruction the definition of qualified child has been changed: a qualified child should have been living with me for full year, except the child leave me temporally for medicare or other reasons. How long is "temporal"? My baby was taken back to China by my parents in March 05, and she didn't come back now. I did sent her back for physical treatment, but the time is a little bit long. Is she a qualified dependent?
