Your friend can get a divorce even her hu*****and did not agree. But most state request a certain period of time for seperation. For example, in the State of Maryland, if one party wants divorce, the other does not, they must seperate for two years in order to get the divorce. If both party agrees for divorce, they need to seperate for one year.

Your friend will need a family law lawyer to get the divorce. My office practice the immigration law and family law, if she lives in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, we can represent her for divorce. If not, she can get some general information from my office on the related issues first. The law in most states are more or less the same regarding divorce.
