can Canada citizen live in US for 1 year divorce in Ontario

I am working at US now, already move to New York more than one year. My hu*****and is in China now, and he got a new GF and wants divorce. We are both Canada citizen, where should I divorce? I prefer Canada, but friend told me I am not Ontario resident anymore, have to divorce in New York or China. (we married in China)

Is that true?
