about marriage registration

I am a permanent resident but my boy friend lost his status ,If we want to get married right now to get our marriage license ,will he get anytrouble when The marriage registration office need his ID or something? Because the visa on his passport has expired for more than a year.
Who knows some information about this please help.thanks a lot.
By the way,we are in Arizona,Tucson.
