You may qualify for FMLA

If you have been with the company for 6-months or 1-year, you will be eligible for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act). FMLA entitles you 12-weeks of nopay leave within a 12-month period.

You may want to check with your HR dept about the detailed eligibility for FMLA in your company. Also get a copy of FMLA (by Google search) to understand FMLA in detail.
