I got the same trouble before.

It was in CA. I slapped my ex in front of cops. the cops arrested me" you can not do that before me, otherwise if I do not arrest you, I will get trouble."
the police said.

I was bailed out of jail after paid $7500. I think that is very high. But the police give me misdemeamor charge.

I hired a lawyer, the lawyer negotiated with DA, it was reduced to disturbing charge.

I did 30 days community service, and after one year, I got greencard interview, and I passed.

The key here I think if you get misdemeanor charge, not felony, you will be OK. I do not have to report to company if I look for a job. Because they only care if you got felony charge.
