Are you leaving the country? Seems that you are not.

I am H1B holder and just sold my house in MD. Never heard of the holding. If you have lived in the house for 2 years, you don't need to pay any tax. If you are leaving the country, IRS needs to make sure you pay the tax. My understanding is that you need to file the claim when you leave the country.
