Can we get divorce in the US?

My hu*****and and I are having problems in our marriage, finally there are no feelings between us at all, we don't have the closeness at all, and we have been seperated for more than a year, although we still live in the same house. I am planning to file for a divorce as I don't think anything could change the situation. We even hardlt talk, we have been married for ten years and have a child, we don't have US green card yet. I am wondering how we can get a divorce in the USA, can we do that in the US? How long does it usually take for the divorce get done? Do I need to hire a lawyer to do that for me? Is the process as same as the one for Americans? How can I get started? Thank you very much for your suggestions.
