Hire a lawyer will cost you money, perhaps more than $800. (unless you can get legal aid or free of charge)
You can go to the small claim court to try to get the money back.
However, it will also cost you money($100+?) to file and depend on the judge's ruling.
The best solution I think, is to use up the money as soon as possible.
Usually, lawyers have a free (half hour?) initial consultation, just find one from the phone book and ask. For my opinion, if the lawyer is honest, he/she will tell you NOT to hire one.
