医疗帐单

妈妈来美探亲期间欠下大额医疗费,由于不是居民未能得到减免.现她已经回国.医院打电话来说如果她不付欠下的医疗费他们就通知collection agency.请问collection agency能够怎样?妈妈不住这里没有credit/assets,就有个几百块钱的checking account. Collection agency能不能freeze her account?谢了.
