My painful divorce, can be a good lesson for the potential guys.

1)Divorced filed by me in Early 2004, an east coast state.
2)do it myself style
3)out of country for a few months
4)default entered against me
5)hire a chinese lawyer claiming he is experienced but knows nothing
,he did inflate his bill by 3-4 times.
6)hire an american firm and default was vacated
7)now back to do it myself since I have no money to pay lawyers, doing discovery etc

current legal expense: 7,000. Paper: already 20 pounds and foot high.(see pic)

Expect to go to trial(no way of settling with my ex), so another 5,000 required.

Lesson learned:
1)Get a good lawyer, no chinese lawyer(the ones born here shall probably excluded). They don't even speak english well and the one I hired is a dishonest liar doing more damage to the case than the good. He basically took my money and run.

2)when hire lawyer, try not to focus on their hour rate too much. if possible, get one with higher rate. Save money long term.

3)expect for the worse. Your ex won't play nice.
