我也看错了，楼主十年前开发的系统，他七年前离开签的协议。非竞争协议似乎不太会限制超过五年。

What is “reasonable?” That depends on the type of business and the market. .... As for the time of the non compete, courts become hostile if the period is greater than five years but are seldom going to object to a period of three years.
