Your statute of limitation started to run from 3/2017.  It is 2 years and 5 months now, NY state is 6 years. 

If it is not past the statute of limitation, then check the following link for the upper limit of amount you can sue in small claim court.  NY is 3000.

If your disputed amount is more than the small claim court, get a lawyer.
