房租能省税?对门退休老美的说法

刚把税表寄走,和对门退休的老美聊了起来,他说房租也可以省税. 是credit,
single $60, couple $120. 不知道他指的什么. 联邦还是州税? 是不是因为
他退休了? 他只有退休金和一些利息收入. 等明天再详细问他. 知道的高手
