How much is Attoney Fee?

I had a very bad experience lately. I went to an autoshop to fix my car. Instead of getting the job done, the technician danaged my car totally. The car is not drivable now. I want to sue the autoshop. I just talked with an attoney about it and she is willing to take my case. She said she can charge me based on the total recovery I received. Does anybody has such experience? Normally, what percentage should I pay the attoney? Thank you for your answers.
