怎么把租房押金要回来？

我在芝加哥地区租了间房，押金$2500。现在要退租，房东说地毯有异味，找专业地毯清洗过也去不掉，要换地毯。地毯是我入住前5年换过的。

请问我应该怎么办？还有可能把押金要回来吗？
