I just got a job offer, and the employer let me sign an employment contract (I have not signed yet). In the contract, I find there is something it may be really bad for my future. Now I have no idea what I shall do.
Here is the part of the contract:
---------------------------------------
“The Employee agrees, for as long as [he/she] works for the Employer and for a period of twelve months following the end of [his/her] employment, not to compete, directly or indirectly, by entering into business in an enterprise offering products and/or services, such as those offered by the Employer and as described in Appendix.”
---------------------------------------
The appendix lists a few very general professional areas I work in.
If I understand the contract correctly, I could not continue my current profession after I stop this job for whatever reason. I have to wait for a period of twelve months following the end of the employment.
Does any one have an experience like this? Is this a legal or right Contract?
Any help, clue and comments are welcome. Thank you very much in advance.
