need to report it to DMV?

I had an accident in California one month ago. According to the California law, I need to report the accident to DMV within 10 days if the damage loss beyond $750.00. But the insurance comapany did not give me the loss estimation($1700) until last week. That means it's beyond 10 days. Do I still need to report DMV? If not, will there be any problelm to me? Thank you.
