朋友租车，加错了柴油，怎么办

刚从国内来的朋友在租车公司租车，期限一年，上周外出，结果加油时搞错了，加成柴油。车开到半路无法启动，公司叫拖车拖走，又给他另外一辆车临时开。我的朋友心里很忐忑，自己是否需要承担责任，接下来应该怎么办？
