Please help

My home was broken by thief, two of my checking books were stolen. Eventhough, I closed my accounts, but still worry about if thief took my credit card information like statement, because they are all put in same drawer. Any suggestion? Should I close my credit cards account also? I called the credit card company, they think there is no expiration date on statement, and thief can't not use it. Do you agree? My ssn also can be found in it, should I check the credit report?
