父母要离婚

my dad requests my mom to divorce from 10 years ago. Finally, he applied it this month and the reason is they separated about 2 years. My mom loves him so much and doesn't wanna divorce even my dad has other woman and treats my mom badly. they are over 55 years old,if they divorce, my mom will be very upset and may not wanna live at all. The fact is that they never separated, my dad just lying about this. If we prove this problem, does that mean my dad can't divorce with my mom? Does my mom need to hire a lawer? however, i think it's wasting my family's money, because my dad already paid alot on this. There's a letter from 'superior court of ontario'for my mom. It enclosed two forms and one card call'acknowlegment of service'. Also requires that "YOU ARE ASKED TO FILL OUT AND SIGN THIS CARD/PAGE AND TO MAIL IT IMMEDIATELY。 IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THIS CARD/PAGE， THE DOCUMENT(S) LISTED BELOW MAY BE PERSONALLY SERVED ON YOU AND YOU MAY BE ORDERED TO PAY THE COSTS OF SERVICE'.
Do I have to ask my mom to sign the card immediately? She doesnt know about the divorce yet, and I don't want her to be so sad. I need your advice, thank you!
