serious accident

As local driving, got bumped on the left rear, and was pushed to the left side and bumped another car toward us (face to face). We bumped the car at its left door after we were bumped out by the car behind us. The cars were seriously damaged and both the drivers were badly hurt. We contacted a lawyer already, however we did not get enough advices. Please give us your suggestions on how to handle this case? Does anybody know similar case?
