Speeding ticket 请教

儿子前几天因急事超速被捉，在一school zone 放学时，42 MPH in a 25 MPH school zone during posted hours while school was in session.
据说扣1点，现在的情况是： Amount of Fine/Penalty: $250.00, Court Costs: $188.00, so total $438.00. 这对他是第一次，也不会argue，其实他还是个学生，没收入，这不是个小数目。

今天收到一律师来信： After your free consulation, if you decide to hire me, my fee for representation is $50.00 for most traffic cases in Infractions Court(1B). My fee for more serious traffic matters is set on a case by case basics and will be determined with your initial consulation.

现在该怎么办？如果找这个律师，是不是罚款还要交？谢谢。
