Failure to dim headlight 罚金问题请教

我刚买了新车Honda，与原来的Toyota 不太一样。上周末晚上被警察抓住，说我failure to dim headlights，给我开了一个发单，没写罚金数目。我住Indiana，去网站查也没查出罚金数额。我开车10多年，从没有任何不良记录。因此我想去法庭争取免掉罚金，理由是我新买的车，不是太熟悉，我不确定打headlight，警察非说我打headlight. 我没有任何经验，不知道成功的机率多大。如果我得理由不合适，我该怎么说更可能成功。请帮我看一下我的Case，任何建议都可。非常感谢！
