A question for US Citizenship application

I am a green holder for 7 years, and just started the citizenship application in Sept. 2013. I had the biometrics taken in October. Not sure how long the waiting period (couple more months)? I plan to get the marriage certificate in Dec. 2013 (My finance is a US-born citizen). Will the marital status change interfere my citizenship application progress? Will the USCIS also check his background? Thanks.
