The date your ex received the service is the beginning of the six month period. If the service date is Jan. 1, the six month period ends on June 30. Technically your marriage terminates on July 1, not July 2.

This six month period is statutory that no marriage can terminate within this period. It can certainly go beyond this period. Family Code allows a court to extend this period for good cause.
