overcharged by the apartment after moving out

The apartment charged us $445.91 after we moved out including pest control and other minor things. They won't lower the charge and forwarded to the collection unit. The charge is $601.98 now. Is paying the charge the only option to do though this apartment is known to overcharge tenants after moving?
