Hi,
I got my first speeding ticket the other day. The speed limit is 25. My speed was 41. I was driving on a road with a speed limit of 35. Then I made a right turn to a 4 lane road. I did not see the posted speed limit of 25 because of a bus.
I found that in Virginia a traffic court judge could not remove or reduce points once a driver is found guilty. Does anyone familiar with this. In other states such as Maryland one can plead guilty with an explaination and a judge usually removes the points for people receiving first ticket. Is there anything I can do? What are my chances of not found guilty if I use the following arguments in court.
* I did not see the speed limit because a bus blocked my view.
* The road is on a down slope.
* The road has 4 lanes and speed limit of 25 seems low.
* I am new to the road.
* I have not received any traffic ticket before.
I would appreciate advice. Thanks!
