我是担心楼下讲的那样的后果，所以想全面了解，是不是用联合税单担保就要两人同时在I864签字，否则无效？？
-One person's signature is enough. But I don't see very serous 后果 in this I-864 issue because I think the immigrant/beneficial probably will not actually ask you to pay him/her living fee. Otherwise, you can go to the court and he/she will be in big trouble.
As for the relative may do the same way in other issues in the future, this is another story and you may ask your spouse to talk to the relative and give him some kind of warning. I believe this relative will not do it again unless he/she is not a good person. If he/she will do illegal thing in the future using your spouse's name in the future, you may go to the court at that time.
Anyway, we Chinese dealing with this kind of things is different from the American. We do not want to break down the relationship between relatives or friends. Going to the court is not a good choicer soemtimes unless it is necessary and you have no choice.
