请教老猫一个棘手问题

近日，邻居向我投诉他的主卧渗水。他投诉的理由是：我们的院内花坛紧挨他的主卧外墙，同时花坛高出他的主卧地板高度。由于连日大雨，导致花坛土壤潮湿，致使他主卧墙壁和地板渗水。他要求我们拆除花坛并赔偿损失。（按：我们两家都是1989年的独立屋）

请问：我们该如何应对？
