加州EDD 听证，老猫请进

我一个朋友最近收到一份从加州unemployment insurance appeals board信，说他的UI有欺诈，因为在他的申请表上写的是lay off,但雇主说是fire，一共拿了$2000多刀，朋友觉得没什么大事就给UI的人说不需要律师，现在马上要去appeal了，但是google了一下，后果还听严重。请问老猫，这种情况该怎么办？找律师还有用吗？信上面的code是1257（a）。
