如何对待这封律师信- about service provider

事情是这样的.

去年12月初签了一个snow plowing 合同.一月份第一个月帐单来了,发现charge 有出入(列出的服务日期与实际不符,因为家里一直有人,没有注意到那些日期提供了服务,这个point可能不是很strong, 但是,有一天晚上,我的车子stuck在driveway上,而这天也被列在invoice上,说是提供了清雪服务).我马上和service provider 联系,要求他们pause service until dispute/variance resolved. 他们回话说,他们只是invoice according to their record. 我又提议能否他们每次来, 提供一个证据(sign),证明他们来过了.他们也不理.后来就一直联系不上他们了.电话接不通,留言不回,email不回.第二,第三个月的帐单更是离谱,非但没有pause service, 还出现了一天charge 两次snow plowing, snow plowed 4 days in row (I don't recall/believe snow was that bad), etc,还charge 了late fee and intrest for the amount we wanted to dispute. 我联系了他们很多次,他们都ignore. 4月份的时候,我filed BBB, they failed to respond BBB. 我问BBB 我该怎么办, BBB 说我不需要做任何事, 直到对方take action. 4,5 月的帐单还是来,每次还加了late fee. 6月份,我去了owner的office, 没找到人,通过 跟他和租office的人,拿到了他的私人 cellphone number. I called his personal cellphone and reached the owner. The owner was  very rude and insisted we should pay accoring to his record. 交涉又一次失败,我没办法, 给他寄去了一个package including a letter, minimum contract price, 连同以前的email histroy, BBB filing.

6月底,收到律师信,是owner collect money($230). I had conversation with the lawyer and explained what happened. I also mailed the lawyer a package which include a letter of  explaination, all the email histroy, BBB filing, etc.

前两天又收到律师信,同一个律师,还是collect money. 给了10 天的action 期限.我又联系了律师,律师几次都不在,我也留了很多message, 但律师没回. 我还能做什么呢? 我自认为有很strong的position, 但不知道对我有什么不好的影响.钱数目不大,但是觉得这件事我实在没有做错.

刚才查了那个公司的review, 发现好多人跟我有类似的经历.有的请了lawyer filing against the owner. 这个公司现在BBB rating 是consistant 'F'. 可见这实在不是个好公司,但我该怎么做呢? 为了$230, 我有必要请律师吗? 我该如何回复那边的律师信呢? 我还要继续跟律师follow up 吗?
