Traffic Ticket

I had an accident and bumpped into another car. It was my fault, somehow my car did not stopped quickly enough at the intersection. The other was in front of me at the intersection, waiting to get on the main road.
My speed was very low and damage to the cars were very minor. However, the other driver said she had stiff neck and was sent to the hospital. The police at the scene told me that usually there would not be a police report for such minor accident. But since the other driver was sent to the hospital, there would be a police report. But he let me leave without giving a ticket.

However, now I found out he wrote the report the next day and mailed me a ticket and request for court appearance. I do not know what happened to the other driver. How can I defend myself at the court?
