單身老貓-请帮忙回答

I am living in southern california. On Aug2 I send-e-mail to apartment
management company to tell that I am going to move out on Aug31. I also I also gave a notice to living in manager. Is it a 30 days notice? I do not want to the apaerment to charge one month rent for that.
I am not happy that the apertment did not discount rent without contract bacause new one pay less than me. I live here for 4 years.
