被警察

昨天晚上9点多回家，抄近路从公园走。有一车在speed limit 30的地方开15-20，后面紧跟一辆警车，我们跟在警车后面。慢车后来拐弯走了，警车停下等我们走后，开始闪灯，老公停了一下见他们没反应接着走（我们没有做错任何事情），警车闪灯又打手电跟上来。--我们停车等警察--警察要求把引擎关掉。边问为什么停了又走边往车里用手电乱扫，我们大人小孩都系着安全带，他叽里咕噜一通只说我们的大灯照到他的后视镜刺到他的眼睛（大概是我们刚才跟他太近了，而且公园的路不是平的）。然后没事走人。老公在发动车子后只打近光灯，我问他这样你能开吗？

路上想着真是不爽，但是多一事不如少一事，和警察打交道好像也是不能完全避免的事情。想着我的英文还不是那么灵光，只是说明还好，要辩解就逊了。

请教这里的高手：万一被警察拦下了，怎样应付比较合适？先解释还是就要求翻译比较高？有口误小事变大就冤了。
