We're upgrading our house (in CA) and will sign an agreement with our contractors. I wonder if the following disclaimer comes into legal effect. The contractors have no license and insurance.

SECTION 4: WAIVER OF LIABLILITY
Independent Contractor specifically exempts the homeowner from liability for any injury during the course of the services.
