我有法律责任吗？

i received a check from a company, and i know it is scam. i told the company and the company asked me mail it back to them in order for them to forward to police department. i don't want to spend time to do so(just want to threw it away:-)), and 我有法律责任吗？thnaks~~~~~~~~~~~~.
