替朋友急问前夫被IRS查税牵连到她的事

朋友已离婚,但是离婚前有好几年都是和前夫报的joint return.她前夫以赌博为生有好几年了,几乎不报税,现在IRS写信说2006年他赢过一笔4万的奖金没交税,她前夫现在中国,有美国绿卡.说他们应该一人交一半.
我朋友一则不甘心替他交税,另一方面更怕他有一天所有逃的税都被查出来,她前夫不回美国的话,她可能要一下背上十几万的债(这是猜测,她前夫从不告诉她到底赢了多少).但是现在IRS只是查那4万,又不能去自投罗网.她又急又气.这里的专业人士帮帮忙,有没有什么意见和建议呀?
