I was charged with escape.Help

I drove at a night and I forgot to turn the headlight on. A police car followed me, flashed red light, and sounded alert horn. I listened to radio and my car windows were closed, so I didn't notice it at first. When I found a ploce car folling me, I don't know how to do because I don't think there was something wrong with me. I stopped in the middle of the road. I pulled off a window to see backward. The police man didn't come out the car, so I thought there is not something wrong with me and I continued to drive. Soon I arrived at a crossroad with a red light and I stopped. The police car still followed me. At that time I knew I must do something. When the light turned green, I made a left turn and stopped at the side of the road. When I got out of my car, I was pushed on the ground. The police told me I was arrested because of escape.

Is there any Chinese layer can help me. I am in Texas. Thanks a lot.
