（急）求助：两个学校I-20之间5个月的间隔期必须离境么？

我本科毕业的学校跟硕士的学校I-20之间有5个月间隔， 两个学校I-20之间5个月的间隔期必须离境么？有的律师说可以，有的说不行。请问谁能告诉我确切的法律规定？
