资产和车保险，请教老猫

听人说，有一定资产的人买车保险最好买到和资产相当的额度。
也就是说，你有净值资产50万，车保险要买到50万（如50万Bodily Injury Coverage).这样就保护了你的财产。

但我很不明白它的道理。

假如，对方索赔100万，若赢了，不是正好保险公司出50万，自己资产50万，赔得一文不剩吗？怎么谈上保护财产呢？

真不懂！

是不是，资产只有50万，对方不可以索赔超过资产的额度？ 法律有这条吗？还是惯例呢？

我讲的只是假设，只考虑保护财产，不考虑其他。
