I'm talking about racial discrimination lawsuit here.
I'm in US for many years and first, I want to warn
everyone to be very careful about this -- it's very hard
to convince the court about this kind of case and it WILL
affect your future employement oppurtunities.
In all the years in US, I don't think I've experienced
anything that I can say without doubt that I was mistreated
because I'm a Chinese. That said, there're so many times
I'm just not sure if it was because of my face, or the
other guy was simple a mean bastard to everyone --
haven't you ever wondered about that?!
What I can to discuss is how should we protect ourselves
at work place. Here're what I think everyone should do if
you experience or feel something: (1). write it down.
something like a diary. record what someone said when,
or how you're treated differently from the other guys.
(2). keep emails that you think can be used as evidence.
emails are admitable on court. (3). if you can
find some colleague as witness.
If you don't think you have a slam dunk case (and expecting
a wind fall compensation), you should
just walk away. Potential employers will all avoid you
if they find out about your lawsuit -- even if it's your
former employer at fault.
Hope to hear some comments.
