Let me talk about Time.
As everyone knows, there’re 60 seconds in a
minute, and 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year. And
the length of the time is always the same for every single person.
These years, our human life spans are
getting longer and longer. Now the average life span is about 80 years in
Japan. What can you do in 80 years’ time? How can we live a full life? Make a
great invention and change the world, save a person’s life and become a hero,
do a great achievement and be remembered forever. Is that the only way to live
a full life? I don’t think so. Even my
father says he has a happy life. And also I think I’m living in happy days. To
enjoy our lives, we don’t have to become Leonardo da Vinci or Walt Disney. Every
single person has his way to enjoy his days. I had a good experience about
this. When I was a six grader of Elementary school, my parents decided to move
here to Tokyo. So, I challenged myself to take a Middle school entrance exam. It
was late of November, and the exam was in the beginning of February. I had only
two months to prepare for it. I tried to catch up with other students who were
also going to take entrance exams. To study with them was very hard, but I had
a good time. I enjoyed studying. Every day was interesting to me. This was
about study, but it can be replaced by anything. Playing basketball, watching
soccer, listening to music, eating chocolates, reading science fiction, loving
someone...
The time’s length is the same to everyone. But
sometimes, we don’t feel the same. For example, put your hand on a hot stove
for a minute, it’ll feel like an hour. Next, think about when you’re sitting
next to a pretty girl, you’ll feel it is only a minute though it is an hour. These
words are from the greatest scientist, Einstein. When we are doing something we
have interests in, the time can be feel short. At this moment, the time’s
density is bigger than usual. I said before, “I enjoyed studying”. I think my
time density was very big at that time. I had a productive time, but it past
very fast. Time flies when we are having fun. This seems cruel. But I think it
means that happy time is very valuable. We are lucky to have happiness.
There’s another occasion that makes the
time short. The time we feel. I’m 14 years old this year. So the time left for me
is about 60 to 70 years. But I’ve heard from many people, that the time will
get shorter and shorter. One of my Japanese-language teachers said, this year
one hour will be 30 minutes next year. Actually, I feel like time is flying
much faster than before. When I was 5 or 6, a year felt very long, but now a
year feels so short. We must do many things, have many experiences, and make
many friends before our time gets short.
We only have one life. Therefore we should
live in a big density’s time. What a waste to lead an idle life!
