The problem is my husbend's old TN was expired on 4/27/2015. His renewal is still pending. His renewal application was received on 4/22/2015 .

Can he go to border to get TN? Then get TD for me?
-Yes. Just bring the required documents to the border to get the TN/TD I-94 (also bring the TN extension receipt notice, just in case). You also need to go to the border together with your spouse to get your TD when he gets TN there.
