-When your kid changed his/her name, he/she needed to get the official name change certificate from the court and then, provide the document to USCIS and thus, USCIS can put his/her name in the green card. If your kid did not provide the name change document to USCIS when he/she filed I-485, USCIS would use his/her old name. The green card is still valid as long as he/she has the official name change certificate in hand. He/she does not need to change the name in the green card. But if he/she wants to put his/her new name in the green card, just file I-90 to get the replacement and he/she may need to pay the I-90 filing fee (contact USCIS before sending the I-90 out to see whether you need to pay the filing fee).
