MTR is Motion to Reopen. You can file MTR after your I-485 is denied if you think USCIS denial of your I-485 is unreasonable/unjustified. It is similar to Apeal.

It seems it is difficult for you to win the MTR because your status did have a big gap unless you fix this gap.
